IF YOU ARE A LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTER OR AN ALTAR
GUILD MEMBER AT ST. CHRISTOPHER’S, PLEASE READ THIS:
The Covenant between Bethany Lutheran and St. Christopher’s contains a provision for dividing financial responsibility for the salary and benefits of any minister both churches share. Per the Covenant, each January the percentages are recalculated based on attendance at each church during the previous calendar year. Children are not to be included in the calculation (for the reason that they are not pledging units of their respective parishes). Although our two churches currently do not share a minister, when we fill the vacant position, we would need to provide this information to our Treasurer so the proper calculation can be made.
When LEMs (and sometimes Altar Guild members) record attendance for services at St. Christopher’s in The Register of Church Services (the red book in the sacristy), they currently just record total numbers of those attending (including children). In order that we know the number of children in our totals, it is necessary that beneath the day’s total attendance number, you also record the number of children at the service, with an asterisk beside that number. Your attention to this detail will insure that our parish doesn’t pay more than our fair share of the financial costs for a minister.
