Service Duties for March and April, 2018
Click on the above links to view the January and February, 2018, and the March and April, 2018, Service Duties for our parish. If you wish to make any changes to these schedules, please make your own arrangements and post those changes on the hard copy of the schedules on the bulletin board in the parish hall. Changes you make will not be reflected in the schedules linked to this website.
Two volunteers are needed:
1. Our parish is in need of a volunteer to act as Parish Clerk during Vestry Meetings. Duties will include attending, taking and transcribing meeting minutes for distribution. Please contact Carol Isphording if you can help.
2. Carol Isphording currently sends birthday and anniversary cards to the congregants of St. Christopher’s. Now that Carol has taken over the duties of Senior Warden, the vestry is seeking a volunteer willing to address and mail these cards. Any costs for the stamps and cards will be borne by the parish. Please contact Carol if you would be willing to assume these duties on behalf of St. Christopher’s.
Thanks to all who serve God by serving our parish!
IF YOU ARE A LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTER OR AN ALTAR
GUILD MEMBER AT ST. CHRISTOPHER’S, PLEASE READ THIS:
The Covenant between Bethany Lutheran and St. Christopher’s contains a provision for dividing financial responsibility for the salary and benefits of any minister both churches share. Per the Covenant, each January the percentages are recalculated based on attendance at each church during the previous calendar year. Children are not to be included in the calculation (for the reason that they are not pledging units of their respective parishes). Although our two churches currently do not share a minister, when we fill the vacant position, we would need to provide this information to our Treasurer so the proper calculation can be made.
When LEMs (and sometimes Altar Guild members) record attendance for services at St. Christopher’s in The Register of Church Services (the red book in the sacristy), they currently just record total numbers of those attending (including children). In order that we know the number of children in our totals, it is necessary that beneath the day’s total attendance number, you also record the number of children at the service, with an asterisk beside that number. Your attention to this detail will insure that our parish doesn’t pay more than our fair share of the financial costs for a minister.
Note: The Registry also includes a reminder of this housekeeping requirement at the top of the page.
Thanks to all who take care of this task for St. Christopher’s. Should you have any questions about this, please contact Marilyn Zimmerman.
